RIVERVIEW — A seller on Facebook Marketplace discovered Oct. 24 that she was not alone in being a victim of a con artist who took advantage of porch pickup of an item and then did not leave a cash payment in the mailbox as agreed upon.
The female buyer left a note in an envelope which said “Thank you – God bless” but did not include any renumeration for 1980s vintage Strawberry Shortcake toy box, which had a $100 value.
After warning others on Facebook Marketplace, the victim heard stories of other people who had been victimized by the woman.
The suspect arrived in the 18600 block of Valleyview Street in a black 4-door sedan, and her image was captured by a surveillance camera.
The case was turned over to the detective bureau for further investigation.
