HEIGHTS — A 14-year-old Dearborn Heights boy has been charged as a juvenile in the non-fatal Sept. 18 shooting of a 16-year-old Detroit boy, which occurred in the 8400 block of Grayfield Street.

It is alleged that the teen was handling the gun when it accidentally discharged, wounding the other teen in the forehead. The 14-year-old fled the scene, but later that day turned himself in to the Oak Park Police Department.

He was charged with careless discharge causing injury or death. He was granted a $10,000 personal bond, with an Oct. 12 pretrial hearing date.
