MELVINDALE — A routine traffic stop on Oakwood Boulevard the morning of Aug. 9 for failure to signal a turn and a damaged windshield resulted in the arrest of a man and woman for outstanding arrest warrants.

The male driver of the blue 2007 Dodge Caravan advised the police officer that he had a concealed pistol license for a firearm in the vehicle. He had an active arrest warrant out of Oakland County, and was taken to the Dearborn jail to await transfer.

The man’s wife had an arrest warrant for fraud in Monroe and for disorderly, resisting, obstructing and assault out of Southgate. The woman unsuccessfully attempted to proposition the arresting officer to avoid being detained. Southgate police officers agreed to take the woman into custody.

While the woman was being transported to a half-way point to meet with Southgate police officers, she was rude and argumentative, she berated and insulted the Melvindale police officer and she repeatedly spit inside the vehicle despite being ordered to stop.

The Caravan was impounded and towed.
