DEARBORN — A Dearborn man accelerating rapidly and intentionally drifting into a skid while driving a 2023 BMW M3 on Schaefer Road the night of Aug. 16 lost control of the car and crashed in Schaefer Drugs Pharmacy, 6635 Schaefer Road.
The left front and rear of the car were extensively damaged and the store suffered extensive damage to its doors, windows and brick face. The driver was evaluated by first responders on site and declined further treatment.
The pharmacy owner and his daughter were able to retrieve surveillance camera footage that showed the vehicle prior to and during the crash.
The driver was cited for reckless driving and for having an invalid North Carolina license plate on the vehicle, which was impounded and towed.
A city building inspector checked the store and determined that it was still structurally sound.
