HEIGHTS — A Dearborn Heights man reported May 25 that he had $1,000 to $2,000 stolen from his Cash App account when a hacker emptied it of funds and then closed the account.

The victim said a Cash App customer service representative said that there was nothing they could do since the account had been closed.

He said the connection to his Cash App account was made from an Android smart phone in California.

The man was told to monitor his account and credit score and to notify police officials if any further suspicious activity occurs.
