HEIGHTS — A scam artist trying to defraud a 61-year-old Dearborn Heights woman out of $96,000 on Nov. 9 while posing as a law enforcement official was unsuccessful with their arrest threats and scare tactics.

The intended victim said the caller’s heavy accent was an immediate indication that something was amiss, as was the threat that she would be arrested if she didn’t keep the call active on her way to her bank.

She did not suffer any monetary loss, and she provided voicemail and text message with local law enforcement officials.
