ALLEN PARK — A con artist claiming to be from the U.S. Marshals Service called an Allen Park woman at noon Oct. 13 and said the victim’s assets would be frozen if she didn’t immediately withdraw and send him $17,000 from her bank account.

The intended victim withdrew the cash, but when the caller told her to convert it to Bitcoin digital currency, she became suspicious, and terminated the communication. She said she did not give any personal information to the caller and did not lose any money to him.
