MELVINDALE — A vacant house in the 17900 block of Reed Avenue, which is awaiting probate, was found to have a broken back door window Sept. 26, with the house key lockbox pried open and the key stolen.

Two relatives of the recently deceased homeowner said they have been watching the house to make sure it isn’t broken into, since they will likely inherit the property.

The responding police officers entered through an unlocked window and checked the house to make sure it was vacant. There were no suspects.
