HEIGHTS — A 51-year-old Dearborn Heights woman reported Aug. 15 that she was tricked via text message by a con artist claiming that her Amazon account would be shut down unless she reconfirmed her identity information within 24 hours.
The woman said she clicked on a link and filled out a form, providing her Social Security number and a debit card number.
She was advised to flag her credit reports, and to change her debit card account number.
