TRENTON — An identity thief canceled a woman’s cell phone account Aug. 25, then raised the credit limit on one of her credit cards and tried to make a cash withdrawal on another card, which was flagged as a suspicious transaction and blocked.

The victim provided police officers with the name of an unknown male who had added his name to her accounts, as well.

She said she had established a new cell phone account with her provider, and spoke to both of her credit card providers, who froze her existing accounts. The victim did not lose any money due to the fraud.
