WYANDOTTE — A 28-year-old Commerce Township woman, whose blood alcohol content was later found to be three times the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan, was arrested July 17 near Ford Avenue and 6th Street in Wyandotte for operating while intoxicated.

A traffic stop was initiated after she accelerated while turning onto westbound Ford Avenue from Biddle Avenue, causing her pickup’s tires to squeal on the pavement prior to her losing control of the vehicle.

The pickup hit a raised curb and traveled onto the grassy shoulder, before re-entering the roadway. A police officer activated the vehicle’s emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver continued for several blocks before finally pulling over.
