TRENTON — An identity thief used a Trenton man’s personal information to open an account with Suddenlink, an Internet service provider, for which the victim was receiving collection notices for $312 from a debt collector, he reported May 18 to police officers.

He said the debt collection activity has negatively impacted his credit score. He was provided with a police report number so he could pursue a fraud investigation with Suddenlink.
