RIVERVIEW — A rented cargo van driven by a 33-year-old Westland man who was speeding on Sibley Road the afternoon of May 17 was impounded and towed when it was discovered that neither he nor his passenger had valid driver’s licenses.

The driver said that a friend with a valid driver’s license had completed the rental agreement contract for the cargo van.

Upon checking the driver’s name in the Law Enforcement Information Network, it was determined that his driver’s license had been expired for the past seven years, and was currently suspended due to five prior violations. The two men were given a courtesy ride to a nearby fast-food restaurant to await a ride.
