TAYLOR — A man whose friend absconded with his rental box truck April 16 following a move from Detroit to Taylor said that U-Haul indicated that he must file a police report documenting the theft if his acquaintance refuses to return the vehicle, so he won’t continue to be charged for the rental.

The victim said he did not give his friend permission to take off with the U-Haul, which was entered into the Law Enforcement Information Network as stolen.
