HEIGHTS – An estimated crowd of 2,000 participants turned out for the city’s first Easter Marshmallow Drop April 9 on the grounds of the Canfield Community Center.

Participants enjoyed pictures with the Easter Bunny and Elsa (from “Frozen”), a variety show, a stilt walker, face painting, displays by the Police and Fire departments, and refreshments. Children who collected one of the 2,100 marshmallows dropped from the hovering helicopter onto the ground’s softball diamond exchanged them for prizes.

The event was co-sponsored with Target, which donated prizes, including two children’s bicycles that were raffled off during the event.

“It was a wonderful event,” Mayor Bill Bazzi said. “The kids, the parents, and everyone involved had a great time. It was all about the kids, and by all appearances, they really enjoyed themselves.”
