WYANDOTTE — Things heated up fast the afternoon of March 28 for a man who ignored the low oil indicator light on his car dashboard.

The vehicle, which began to overheat near Van Alstyne and Chestnut streets, suddenly had flames protruding from the engine compartment.

Police officers and firefighters were able to safely extinguish the flames, and the driver was uninjured, but the car was no longer operable.
