DEARBORN — A tow truck driver blocking a diesel gas pump the afternoon of Feb. 1 at BP, 10419 Ford Road, caused tempers to flare when the driver of a box truck tried to get the tow truck driver to move so he could gas up his vehicle.

The box truck driver said there were two people in the tow truck, eating, and they were not using the diesel gas pump, and when he asked them to move a second time, the driver pushed the tow truck door toward the complainant, striking him in the neck.

The gas station attendant attempted to de-escalate the situation, and the tow truck driver left the scene before police officers arrived.

The complainant gave the responding police officers the name and phone number of the company that was displayed on the tow truck, and the tow truck driver responded to a phone call from the police officers.

After confirming the sequence of events with the gas station employee, both drivers agreed that the situation could have been handled more civilly.
