LINCOLN PARK — A Michigan State Police fire marshal is investigating the Feb. 16 suspected arson of a mobile home near Gaylord, for which a 36-year-old Lincoln Park man is in custody.

MSP from the Gaylord post responded to a mobile home fire on Lone Pine Road in Hayes Township, where the man was believed to be visiting with his mother and uncle, who were renters, MI Headlines reported. While his mother was at work, the uncle said his nephew began acting irrationally, piling up blankets in the living room, pouring an accelerant on them, and lighting them on fire.

The uncle fled to a neighboring house, while the suspected arsonist walked to the Gaylord MSP post. The investigation is ongoing.
