WYANDOTTE — A 17-year-old was taken into custody the night of Jan. 22 after they attempted to flee the scene of a hit-and-run accident at Fort Street and Goddard Road.

The young driver, who refused to yield to a traffic stop, drove at a high rate of speed, and eventually entered a Southgate neighborhood, where they continued to drive recklessly. Police officers disengaged from the pursuit, but set up a perimeter to prevent the driver’s escape, which was ultimately successful, and the reckless driver was removed from the road.
