ALLEN PARK — Scott Christopher Sams, 52, known to sell methamphetamine in the Downriver area is facing charges in federal court after allegedly supplying drugs that have killed at least 5 women.
He was charged with conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and delivery of methamphetamine causing death, according to WJBK Channel 2.
Sams’ arraignment took place Jan. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan for the charges relating to the May 2021 death of a 28-year-old woman in Allen Park.
According to the indictment, the woman was a single mother and died of a methamphetamine overdose. Sams allegedly lured the woman to Allen Park Motor Lodge then overdosed her with methamphetamine. In a recorded conversation, Sams admitted to providing the woman the drugs.
Photos that appeared to be taken from Sams’ cell phone were saved to his Google Drive, based on the file naming convention of the images included in the indictment. Images of firearms and suspected methamphetamine were found.
Police arrested the Sams Nov. 9, 2021, on an outstanding state probation violation.
Through the course of the investigation it was determined at least five victims have been reported to have died at the hands of Sams.
The FBI Detroit Field Office is asking anyone with information on Sams to contact them at 313-965-2323 or submit tips online to http://tips.fbi.gov.
A pretrial conference is set for 1 p.m. Feb. 28, and a jury trial at 8:30 a.m. March 15, both in front of U.S. District Judge Laurie Michelson.
