SOUTHGATE — Trenton Department of Public Works employees witnessed a man dumping white paint into a stormwater catch basin at Barberry and Cherry streets in Southgate the afternoon of Sept. 21, and alerted the Southgate DPW director and an ordinance officer, who notified Southgate police officers.

The man, who admitted to dumping the paint, said he “wanted to get rid of it.”

The DPW water director had crews en route to clear the nearby basins of paint before it became a hazardous material issue.

The man was cited for illegal dumping, and was provided with a court appearance date.
