TAYLOR — A nurse who is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder said a psychologically disturbed man entered her house in the 7800 block of Pardee Road the morning of Oct. 2, through an unlocked back door, and tried to steal her husband’s Movado watch and a knife.
The victim said she awoke to the sound of someone crawling under her bed, and saw a man crawling out of her room and into the hallway. She then grabbed a baseball bat and hit him in the knee with it, and demanded to know what he had stolen.
The man threw her husband’s watch and his own earbuds at her. She asked him again what else he had stolen, and he said he took a knife. At the victim’s insistence, he provided a phone number.
The woman called the number, and the woman who answered said the man was reported a missing by his mother several days earlier, and she said he was “off his meds.” A woman came by soon afterward, on a bicycle, and took the man with her.
The victim said her PTSD prevented her from reporting the incident immediately to police officers.
She provided the responding police officers with the earbuds the man was wearing, and a cap that he dropped in her daughter’s room.
