SOUTHGATE — A rattling back door awoke a man at 5:30 a.m. June 30, who got out of bed in time to scare away a stranger who was about to enter his residence in the 13000 block of Leroy Street.

When the resident shouted at the would-be intruder, the man reportedly took off running.

The residents, who were sure all the doors were locked before they retired for the evening, said none of their possessions were missing or out of place.

Police officers canvassed the area, but were unable to locate a possible suspect.
