Blessings in a box

Photo by Zeinab Najm The Rev. Fran Hayes, pastor at Littlefield Presbyterian Church, 7560 Littlefield Blvd. in Dearborn, checks on the blessing box that stands outside the church. The blessing box is filled with items available free of charge for those in need. The idea for the box was suggest by several members of the congregation as a way to offer food, hygiene and other items to neighbors. The outside of the box reads, “Take a blessing, leave a blessing,” serving as a resource for people who need the items and a place for people to donate items. Parishioner Ben Hylkema built the box and Littlefield’s Misson & Outreach Team Chairwoman Anna Dewey coordinates the blessing box effort.
