HEIGHTS — The family of a man found dead inside a vehicle at Taco Bell, 4539 S. Telegraph Road, has started a Facebook fundraiser, collecting donations for transporting his body and funeral costs.

As of Sept. 6, the fundraiser had a total of $2,573 raised from 43 people for the victim, Ricky Cox Jr. who was missing for two days before he was found.

His aunt, Janette Stephenson Cox, started the fundraiser on Aug. 29 with a goal of $5,000 to pay for the funeral and flying Ricky Cox Jr. to California.

“We need help with funding for the passing of our family Ricky Cox, Jr. for services and to have him flown here to California from Detroit Michigan,” the fundraiser post read. “Please all donations would help to get him home so we can lay him to rest. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for any help you can give.”

To donate go to www.facebook.com/donate/301868857060551/1356376211164394.

Cox’s body was found just after 7:30 a.m. Aug. 29 inside a gray vehicle on the passenger side by Taco Bell employees. Cox was living in Michigan for work.

Security video from the restaurant and other businesses nearby are being checked by police to identify anyone possibly involved in the man’s death.

The cause of death was not released and calls to the Wayne County Examiner’s Office were not retuned by press time.
