Final Free Kids Day coincides with Friday Nites, Foodie Rally

DEARBORN –  The year’s final opportunity for families to enjoy free events will take place Aug. 25, the same day as the Friday Nites and Foodie Rally at the West Village Commons plaza, Michigan Avenue and Howard.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 25, the plaza, which is closed to vehicle traffic, will be the site for music, jugglers, facepainters, balloon sculptures and inflatable rides, all free. The event is sponsored by Kenwal Corp.

The entertainment line-up for that day is:

• Joe Chasney Comedy and Juggling.
• Pebbles the Clown.
• Eugene Clark’s Puppets, Projects, parades.
• Inflatables: Obstacle Course and Moon Bouncer.
• Free ice cream donated by City Councilman David Bazzy.

The free children’s activities started out as Saturday events, but to better accommodate families with busy schedules, the special days were moved to Fridays. The change also means the special days are coordinated with the Friday Nites and Foodie Rallies. One takes place from 5 to 10 p.m. Aug. 25, also at the West Village Commons.
