Dunworth Community Pool set to open

DEARBORN — Dearborn’s outdoor pool season begins May 27 with the opening of Dunworth Pool.

Dunworth Pool will offer open swimming weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from noon to 6 p.m. through June 15.

Ten Eyck Pool will open June 16, featuring open swimming daily from 1 to 6 p.m.

Beginning June 17, Lapeer and Summer-Stephens will open, also offering open swimming daily from 1 to 6 p.m.

Dunworth Pool will host the U.S.S. Swim Meet June 16 to 18, and consequently, will not have open swimming these three days. Spectators, however, are welcome.

Starting June 19, Dunworth Pool will feature open swimming weekdays from 1 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from noon to 8 p.m.

Lapeer, Summer-Stephens and Ten Eyck Pools are scheduled to close for the summer Aug. 13 at 6 p.m.

Beginning Aug. 14 and continuing through Sept. 4, Dunworth Pool will offer open swimming weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from noon to 6 p.m.

Ford Wood Pool is being demolished and rebuilt — creating a more expansive, state-of-the-art complex — and as a result, will not open this summer.

This schedule is subject to change. Some pools or portions of pools may close earlier. Check with the specific pool for more information concerning its schedule of operation.

All swimmers must either pay a daily admission fee or purchase a seasonal pool tag.

The daily admission fee is $10 for Dearborn residents (proof of residency is required) and $12 for non-residents at Dunworth and $9 for residents and $11 for non-residents at the other outdoor pools.

Pool tags, good for admission to any of the outdoor pools during the 2017 summer pool season, are available for purchase at the service desk of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave., weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Six types of swim tags are available. Infants under age 2 are free.

• Preschool, $35. Parents must present a copy of the child’s birth certificate and proof of residency.
• Youth (ages 17 and under), $55. Must present school-issued identification card.
• Adult (ages 18-59), $65. Must present proof of residency.

• Family (both parents and all children under the age of 18), $135. Proof of residency for parents and birth certificates for children are required.
