LINCOLN PARK – Police continue search efforts for a 24-year-old Inkster man accused of shooting two men March 18, killing one of them.
Deputy Police Chief Joe Lavis said Wednesday that investigators believe that the shooting suspect, Lloyd Nathaniel Ray, is still in the area.
Ray, along with another man, went into a house in the 1200 block of Garfield about 3:30 a.m. and reportedly shot a 23-year-old Allen Park man and a 26-year-old Lincoln Park man. Both men were taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
The Allen Park man was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital and the other victim is recovering from the shooting.
Lavis said police have been in contact with the man who allegedly accompanied Ray during the shooting. That man has not been charged.
With help from the public, police said they quickly identified Ray as the suspected shooter and issued an arrest warrant.
Lavis encourages anyone encountering Ray to notify police immediately by calling 911. He said Ray should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information about the murder should call 313-381-1800.
Ray is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 180 pounds with shoulder-length dreadlocks.
