TAYLOR – Actor Mark Wahlburg was in his Greektown Walburgers restaurant Wednesday to announce opening the Boston-based franchise in Taylor and another in Royal Oak in the near future.

The exact location isn’t official, but its rumored it will be in the Eureka Way section of the city.

Wahlburg was joined by business partner Nino Cutraro. The pair also met with Mayor Rick Sollars.

City officials said the plans have been in the works for many months to bring the family-style restaurant to the area.

Wahlburgers serves 15 varieties of house made condiments and specialty gourmet burgers. Some of the burgers are inspired by family recipes.

“This will be awesome,” said resident Amanda Warren. “I’ve been to the Detroit location. It would be nice to have one closer. I think it will draw in more people to the area.”

Wahlburgers opened its first and only Michigan location in Greektown last year.
