The Dearborn Public Schools Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Middle School will accept applications through March 17 for attendance in the 2017-18 school year.
DPS fifth-graders and parents interested in applying may go to https://stem.dearbornschools.org/stem-application. Information also will be sent home with DPS fifth-graders.
The STEM School is one of the newest programs in the district and an example of the choices parents have when deciding upon the type of learning experiences they want for their children while attending Dearborn schools.
In social media terms, the school is really “trending” upward and making an impact on student learning. The school earned a spot on the state of Michigan’s list of Reward Schools ranking in the top 15 out of the 219 schools making the list. In order to get this designation, a school must either be ranked in the top 5 percent academically, have shown significant academic progress or have performed better than predicted.
“We strive to include a variety of ‘hands-on,’ interactive lessons in our daily classroom learning, all with the goal of exposing our students to everything STEM,” STEM Principal Julia Maconochie said.
The school is part of the DPS Dearborn Heights Campus, 22586 Ann Arbor Trail.
