HEIGHTS — Dearborn Heights District 7 has a new superintendent for the third time in three years.
Former Supt. Jeffery Bartold returned to the district on an interim basis after Supt. John Frazer resigned Sept. 26. Frazer turned in his resignation letter of the board of education with 30 days notice and it was accepted on Oct. 4.
A specific reason for resigning was not given by Frazer to the board.
Frazer was hired as D7’s superintendent last year with a three-year contract after he served as interim superintendent for five months.
“The decision was discussed during a closed session with board members,” Supt. Executive Assistant Cindy Desmit said.
The board attorney then contacted Bartold to fill the void in October.
Bartold served as superintendent for the district from 2006 to 2014 and then part-time as the district’s business manager until 2015.
“Jeffery returned on Oct. 26 after a contract was agreed on,” Desmit said. “He will not be the district’s permit superintendent because of his earning limitation. He’s helping us get from point A to point B.”
Board members will begin their search for the next superintendent this month during their scheduled meetings on Nov. 8 and 22.
