Heights man found dead in vehicle fire

HEIGHTS — The body of a 25-year-old Dearborn Heights man was found inside a burning vehicle in Ash Township May 25, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

A resident alerted police to the incident after observing a large fire near a field in the area of West Newburg and Burns roads in Ash Township.

Deputies responded to the area about 4:30 a.m. where they found the man’s body and revolver in the vehicle.

“A revolver was located inside the vehicle and detectives believe the man may have taken his own life,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “There is no indication another person is involved.”

Investigation is ongoing and man’s identify is being withheld from the public until an autopsy is completed to determine cause of death.

The cause of the fire is also under investigation by the sheriff’s department.
