Wayne County Commissioner Raymond Basham (D-Taylor) will host a Public Forum on Religious Tolerance at 6 p.m. March 22, in the Council Chambers at Taylor City Hall, 23555 Goddard Road.
There will be a panel discussion with religious leaders of various faiths on diversity of faith in the region, media coverage on religion, your faith and what it means to you, and more.
“There have been many public declarations against certain religions recently, especially in the most controversial presidential race in recent memory,” Basham said. “I’m amazed and saddened by some of the statements I’ve heard and actions I’ve seen.
“I feel it’s very important that we have an honest community discussion regarding different religions. Having so many different faiths – and the ability to practice the religion of your choice – is what makes our country great. We can learn and benefit from each other through civil discussion.”
Admission to the forum is free. For more information, contact email Basham at firstname.lastname@example.org or call his office at 313-224-0876.
Basham represents the 14th District, which covers Taylor, Brownstown Township, Flat Rock, Rockwood and Woodhaven.
