Victim, suspect identified in Play Atlantis shooting

MELVINDALE – Police are seeking Lamar Alexander Carter, 23, in connection with the Feb. 13 shooting death of Sean Lawrence Key, 44, at Play Atlantis.

Police said the two men were involved in a dispute about 7 p.m. Saturday at the entertainment center, 19400 Allen Road. The men reportedly were attending separate parties at the facility.

Carter reportedly left the building and returned with a gun. Police said he shot Key once in the head and fled. Key was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests had been made as of publication.

Key was attending a party for a 1-year-old. The shooter was attending another party.

A manager at the facility declined to comment, and deferred all questions to the Police Department.

Carter was described as a black male in his mid 20s, 5 feet 9 tall and weighing between 170 and 190 pounds.

Police are asking anyone with information on the killing to call the department at 313-429-1070.
