DEARBORN — Two men were arrested and charged with breaking into a house on Orchard Street Jan. 26.
Cornelious Tyre McLemore and Terrian Ray Paige were arraigned Jan. 29 in 19th District Court before Judge Mark Somers on charges of second degree home invasion, larceny in a building, malicious destruction of property, and resisting police.
Bond for McLemore was set at $50,000. Bond for Paige was set at $75,000. Both will be required to wear a GPS tether is they are released on bond.
Preliminary examinations of the evidence against them are scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 12 in 19th District Court.
Police responded to a report of two suspicious men parked in an alley behind a house on Orchard. A witness watched as the men exited the vehicle, pulled hoodies over their heads and entered the backyard of the house.
Officers arrived and approached the men, who ran away but were later apprehended.
"Home Invasions are a serious and dangerous crime and we take our response to them seriously,” Police Chief Ronald Haddad said. “Unfortunately, there are often no witnesses to these crimes. Today however, an alert and caring citizen recognized a crime in progress and took the time to ensure the police were alerted.
“We appreciate and commend this citizen for the community engagement. Policing works best when citizens and officers work together to stop criminal activity. "
