RIVERVIEW — A situation almost ended well for a 21-year-old until he insulted a police officer Dec. 28.

Authorities were called to the 17500 block of Valade Street when a man driving a pickup truck was squealing his tires and then got into an altercation with a garbage collection worker.

When the officer arrived, he found the garbage collection truck heading south on Valade and spoke with the occupants. They said the man in the pickup truck apologized for his behavior and they wanted no further police action.

The officer then found the driver of the pickup parked in a driveway in the same block where the altercation was reported. The officer approached the 21-year-old driver and asked about the incident. The man reportedly became agitated and argumentative.

One of the officers asked the suspect why he was squealing his tires and harassing the garbage collection employee. The 21-year-old didn’t offer an explanation and instead called one of the officers a “fat ass.”

The suspect was thus cited for squealing his tires.
