DEARBORN — A local couple has created an affordable, easy way to capture wedding day videos minus the cost of hiring a videographer.

Kate and Nick Storey started their business, Weddeo, in August 2014 to provide other couples an alternative for a traditional wedding video.

“We believe that everyone should be able to have an amazing wedding video for an affordable price,” Kate Storey said. “We understand couples are on a budget when they are planning a wedding.”

When the Storeys got married in 2004 forgot to hire a videographer until last minute. When the time came, the couple realized the $2,000 price tag wasn’t in their budget and settled for photos only.

“When we got married 11 years ago cell phones and cameras were not as popular as they are today,” Kate Storey said. “Today at weddings you see plenty of friends and families recording videos all night.”

The idea for Weddeo came to the Storeys in 2013 during their anniversary dinner and while at a friend’s wedding.

“We were at my friend’s wedding and I noticed she didn’t have a videographer so I started shooting videos along with other guests,” Kate Storey said. “My husband edited the videos and we gave the video as a wedding gift.”

The Weddeo application launched last month and allows family and friends of couples to capture every moment throughout the day.

Videos can be shot through the Weddeo application and uploaded to the Storeys, who edit and create a memorable video for everyone to enjoy.

There are four options for couples who want to use Weddeo on their wedding day.

The basic $99 iPhone App plan compiles all the raw video footage, offers unlimited angles for the wedding story and an app for family and friends.

The next plan is the $399 package which comes with two high-definition cameras to shoot up to four hours of video, 20 minutes and up of professionally edited video on DVD, one-click sharing of the completed video for social media and the app for family and friends.

A three high-definition camera, $499 plan offers six hours of filming, 30 minutes and up of professionally-edited video on DVD, app for family and friends and one-click sharing of the completed video for social media.

The $699 package allows for eight hours of filming time with four high-definition cameras, 60 minutes and up of professionally-edited video on DVD, one-click sharing of the completed video for social media, highlight video for sharing online with friends and family, two additional DVD copies for family or friends and app for family and friends.

Videos captured on the high-definition cameras are sent to the Storeys for editing, but guests receive their original videos once the wedding video is completed.

“The technology available today, it makes it easier to capture and create great wedding videos for couples,” Kate Storey said.

The Storeys said they have had customers from metropolitan Detroit as well as Portland, Chicago, New York and New Jersey.

“The service we provide allows us to work with couples from across the country,” Kate Storey said.
