LINCOLN PARK — Donovan Mitchell Lauber, 19, of Wyandotte was killed at 9:36 p.m. Aug. 21, after he drove his motorcycle into a pickup truck at the intersection of Fort and Stewart in Lincoln Park, police said.
Lauber was allegedly travelling at a high rate of speed, when he broadsided the passenger side of the pickup truck. The impact pushed the passenger door of the truck in by 18 inches, and pinned in the female passenger, causing her extensive injuries.
Lauber was thrown from his motorcycle and found lying unresponsive in the street.
A witness said Lauber was traveling at an estimated 130 mph.
Wyandotte Fire rescue was called upon to help get the woman out of the pickup truck. The woman and Lauber were taken to Beaumont Hospital-Dearborn, where Lauber was pronounced dead on arrival.
He was later buried at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown Township.
The crash was one of three involving motorcyles that occurred in Lincoln Park That day. In the other two incidents, the motorcyclists sustained injuries, but there were no other fatalities.
