MELVINDALE — Charles Miller, found guilty of operating a child porn studio out of his house, was sentenced Aug. 6 to 50 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Robert Cleland.

“I can’t imagine a more heinous way this offense could be perpetrated,” Cleland told Miller upon sentencing.

This sentence is to be imposed consecutively with the 20- to 30-year sentence he received for state charges on June 10. This essentially means that Miller, 59, will live out the rest of his life in prison.

Two of the victims are Miller’s own granddaughters ages 7 and 10. He forced them to pose, perform sex acts with themselves and each other and threatened to kill them if they did not obey.

One of the young victims appeared in court and gave her victim impact statement personally.

“We are survivors,” the girl said in her statement. “I will survive.”

The Lincoln Park police drug enforcement unit discovered the child porn images on Miller’s camera during a drug raid in October 2013 and the house has since been referred to by the media as “the house of horrors,” because of its secret rooms and passageways that were discovered during the investigation.

Miller’s son, Arthur, was indicted on similar charges in March.
