Alberta Muirhead Teacher of the Year Awards

Opening Day for the Dearborn Farmers and Artisans Market

Continuing the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce initiative to enhance the west Dearborn downtown business district, the 2014 Dearborn Farmers and Artisan Market will begin on May 30 with a kickoff celebration of spring. Besides past vendors of flowers, shrubs, and perennials, the market
will offer new vendors of many types.

Most of last year’s Michigan farmers, artisans, and vendors will again provide a wide variety of quality offerings in a community gathering in the parking lot behind Bryant Branch Library every Friday. The market has hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 17. The market will be closed on July 4. This year’s market is sponsored by Oakwood Healthcare Inc., Henry Ford Community College, the city of Dearborn and Bangkok 96 Restaurant.

Taste of Dearborn

Sample the Dearborn area’s finest culinary delights. Patrons can stroll downtown west Dearborn enjoying various restaurants and cafes or can hop aboard a shuttle to escort them to their next destination. Attendees will get wristbands as their “ticket” into the restaurants. It’s a great way for restaurants to generate traffic. This has become a favorite for not only chamber members, but also members of the surrounding communities. Early bird registration is $25.

New in 2014 will be a VIP reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Ford Field Park. The reception will include food from Bangkok 96 Restaurant, live entertainment from the Henry Ford Community College instrumental music department, and wine tasting. VIP tickets are just $40 and include access to the VIP Reception and Taste of Dearborn.
