Guerriero to receive Tertzag Purple Coat honors

DEARBORN — Allen Park attorney Anthony Guerriero will be honored at the fifth annual Tertzag Tribute Dinner from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at Park Place Catering, 23400 Park St.

Tickets are $40, and can be obtained by mailing a check — made payable to Tertzag Tribute Dinner, LLC — to: 421 Berwyn, Birmingham, MI, 48009. Tickets include dinner and open bar.

The dinner is a tribute to former Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Kaye Tertzag, who died Feb. 4, 2009, of bile duct cancer, “having established a great legacy of integrity and service to the state of Michigan, as well as a great example of love and devotion to his family and legion of friends,” according to a press release.

Guerriero spoke at Tertzag’s memorial. He and Tertzag were friends for decades.

Guerriero will receive the Purple Sport Coat Award — in recognition of Tertzag’s hallmark colorful jackets — from Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget McCormack, last year’s recipient.

Other past Purple Sport CoatAward winners are: retired Wayne County Circuit Court Judge James Rashid, attorney Joseph Lujan and Wayne County Circuit Court Judge David Allen.

He worked on the assembly line at the Ford Motor Co. Truck Plant while studying for his bachelor’s degree.

He received his juris doctor from Wayne State University Law School in 1979, and owns his long-standing law practice, Anthony S. Guerriero, Attorney at Law, in Allen Park. He has served as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, civil litigator, mediator, arbitrator, receiver, magistrate and judge.

Guerriero is an active member of the Dearborn Exchange Club, Amicus Club of Dearborn, the Dearborn Italian American Fraternal Club and Knights of Columbus. He and his wife, Elizabeth, are parents of one daughter, Gina.

The keynote speaker will be Debbie Dingell, president of D2 Strategies and chairwoman of the Manufacturing Initiative, American Automotive Policy Council. She also is a member of the Democratic National Committee, a national Democratic strategist and wife of U.S. Rep. John Dingell (D-Dearborn).

All attendees who wear purple will be entered into a drawing for door prizes.
