LINCOLN PARK — Two men remained free last week after assaulting and robbing employees of Super 8 Motel, 1805 John A. Papalas Drive. Police released images taken from surveillance cameras in hopes of catching them.

According to police reports, two men entered the motel lobby at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 17, armed with a silver pistol. The men walked directly toward a back room behind the reception desk, snatching a cell phone from the desk clerk. One of the men approached a second employee in the office, hit her in the mouth with the weapon and fired a round behind her head. He demanded that she open the motel safe.

The man took an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe; his partner took the woman’s purse.

Surveillance images show both men are black, about 6 feet tall, thin. One work a black hooded sweatshirt and had most of his face covered with a white bandana; the other wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and had a scarf wrapped around his face.
Investigators reviewed footage of the men walking in the door, entering the office and firing the weapon.

Police are asking for any information the public may provide by calling (313) 381-1800.
