DEARBORN – Many of Dearborn’s most talented performers and restaurants will come together Feb. 1 to present an evening of vocal and instrumental music, theatrical performances and food at the first-ever “Saturday Night Alive” gala to benefit the Michael A. Guido Theater.

Dearborn’s premier theater, home to many nonprofit community-based arts organizations, is in the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. The ticket price is a tax deductible donation. Tickets are available at the theater box office, by calling 313-943-2354 or going to

Money raised at the event will be used to make updates to the facility, including replacing outdated sound and lighting
equipment to enhance the theater experience for audiences and make the venue more attractive to performing artists.

The fundraiser is presented by the nonprofit Dearborn Community Fund in partnership with several community-based cultural organizations that call the Ford Center “home” including the Dearborn Community Arts Council, Dearborn Symphony, Dearborn Youth Symphony, Dearborn Public Schools, Friends of the Dearborn Symphony, Henry Ford Community College, Dearborn Community Chorus and Vanguard Voices.

“For more than 12 years now, audiences and performers alike have enjoyed the wonderful acoustics and lighting of shows at the Michael A. Guido Theater,” DCF Executive Director EmmaJean Woodyard said. “But improvements are needed to bring the sound and lighting
systems that enhance the sound and visual elements of performances up to date.

“Our goal is to raise a significant portion of the funds needed to replace this equipment during the “Saturday Night Alive” gala. We are pleased that all the partner organizations have come together to make this event so special.”

The event will begin at 7 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres provided by area caterers and music performed by members of the Dearborn Youth Symphony.

At 8 p.m. the curtain will rise on a collage concert featuring Dearborn performing groups including the Dearborn Symphony,
Vanguard Voices, Dearborn Community Chorus, Motor City Brass Band, Players Guild of Dearborn and the Dearborn Public Schools Honors

Following the concert, guests will be treated to an array of desserts with music provided by the Edsel Ford High School Jazz Band. A cash bar will be available.

The evening also will include an Artistic Expressions raffle featuring unique artwork and an opportunity to visit the juried photo exhibition in the Padzieski Art Gallery.

All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the 1,201-seat theater.
