Quote of the month that has inspired me:
“Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.”— Franklin D. Roosevelt

Happiness and creativity have been brewing at the chamber as we ready ourselves for the holiday season! Our staff is constantly thinking, brainstorming, and trying out new ideas and themes to bring interesting and innovative programs to our members and the community.

Our Pop-Up Auction and Holiday Gala is a great example of the whole team thinking creatively for a fun and new twist on our annual holiday tradition! The pop-up business concept has been trending lately, offering businesses an opportunity to check out a space and market before they set up shop. We’ve had pop-up restaurants in the area, pop-up art galleries, and utilizing local vacant space we will be hosting this event on the 14th floor of the beautiful Parklane Towers. We would like to thank the Farbman Group for providing the space and giving back to the community for this innovative event.

Come enjoy delicious food, drink and unique auction items Thursday, Dec. 5. The party starts at 6 p.m. There is something to entice just about everyone’s taste and pocketbook. The views and venue are breathtaking; we can’t wait to see you there!

The City of Dearborn and the chamber are pleased to launch the Center Market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 22. Hosted by the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in the Hubbard Ballroom, admission is free and will continue the third Sunday of each month. Our goals are to bring people together in a community activity and to support local entrepreneurs and small businesses. Gifts, gourmet edibles, candles, crafts, glassware, jewelry, choirs, cooking demos; there will be something there for everyone. Come, visit, and enjoy our local talented artisans.

Creativity abounds in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, the ideas are flowing and business plans are brewing! Many thanks to our mentors, instructors, and supporters. Be sure to check out our Facebook page and Chamber website to meet the students involved and see the exciting updates. Thirty weeks will fly by in no time, culminating with the trade show. I’m sure it will be eye-opening!

Facebook and our website are great ways to stay in touch with our chamber news and events. Cash Mob, other “pop-up” or “pop-in” events are coming and will be announced in social media. Of course feel free to call the office too, we’re here to help 313-584-6100. Enjoy this time of year! I’m giving thanks for all our members, this great community and the fun and creative team we have here at the chamber.
