Rec Dept. sponsors day trips to historic locations

HEIGHTS — The city Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring day trips for residents 55 and over and for non-resident Senior Citizen Club Members to historic venues.

Transportation to and from all events is provided by deluxe motor coach and will depart from the Berwyn Senior Center, 26155 Richardson, and Eton Senior Center, 4900 Pardee. Registration for all events is on a first come, first served basis.

• Nov. 21 — Milan, Ohio: The trip will include visits to Thomas Edison’s birthplace and Milan Museum, where participants can explore Milan’s canal and shipbuilding history, interact with toys from the past and view a renowned glass collection. The trip also includes lunch and antique shopping at Effie’s Attic. Depart from Berwyn Center at 8 a.m. and Eton Center at 8:15 a.m.; approximate return time is 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $35 Dearborn Heights residents, $40 non-resident club members.
Registraion: Through Nov. 18.

• Nov. 26 — Gilmore Car Museum: This trip travels to the Kalamazoo area where participants can tour the restored buildings and look at more than 400 vehicles that date from the birth of the automobile to the present. Depart from Berwyn Center at 8:30 a.m. and Eton Center at 8:45 a.m.; approximate return time is 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $26 Dearborn Heights residents, $31 non-resident club members.
Registration: Through Nov. 18.
