HFCC sponsors pitcher, catcher progression baseball camp

DEARBORN – Henry Ford Community College will sponsor a Pitcher & Catcher Progression Baseball Camp, which runs on select Sundays from Nov. 10 to Feb. 24, at the HFCC Athletic Memorial Building on the main campus, 5101 Evergreen.

“The camp is open to everyone,” HFCC baseball head coach Steven Brown said. “The purpose is to help elementary, middle and high school students learn the art of pitching and catching.

“Rather than go to a one-day camp, this is a progression camp, which is better from a reference standpoint because it grants participants the opportunity to retain and work on their skills. They receive more individualized attention this way, which benefits them greatly. We’re certainly excited about this.”

Camp dates are Nov. 17; Dec. 1, 8 and 15; Jan. 12, 19 and 26; and Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23.

Participants, ages 6 to 12, will participate from 1 to 2 p.m. Players ages 13 and older will participate from 2 to 3 p.m. Parking is available in parking lots I and J.

The cost of the camp is $30 for each session per player. Five pitching sessions cost $100. Five catching sessions also cost $100. The money will benefit the HFCC baseball team. Checks should be made out to Brown.

Participants will need to fill out a form, which is available from Brown. For further information, contact Brown at 313-657-3200 or via email at sjbrown@hfcc.edu.
