The city of Dearborn is looking for someone to donate a 30-foot-or-taller spruce or fir tree for its annual holiday decorations at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. Call 313-943-2317 no later than Nov. 7 to nominate a tree.

DEARBORN — The hunt is on for the city of Dearborn’s official 2013 Christmas tree. Residents are invited to submit their trees for consideration for the honor.

Residents with a tree in mind should call the city’s Public Service Division at 313-943-2317 no later than Nov. 7.

The city’s Christmas tree will stand near the west entrance to the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center through the holiday season. It will be adorned with decorations and colored lights.

It will be the focus of attention at the city’s Treelighting Ceremony and Sing-along on Dec. 9 at the Ford Center.

The Public Service Division will evaluate trees nominated to be the city’s official tree.

Trees must be at least 30 feet tall, and be a spruce or similar species. Trees must be in a front yard that is easily accessible to heavy equipment.

City tree care specialists will remove the tree selected as the official tree from the owner’s property at no cost, but the owner will be responsible for removal of the stump.
