DEARBORN — The Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter will host its Black Tie & Tails fundraiser at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Dearborn Inn, 20301 Oakwood Blvd.

This year’s gala features a Roaring ’20s theme to commemorate the FFDAS’s 20 years of service to the community.

Tickets are $175, and are available by calling 313-943-2697 or going to www.dearbornanimals.org.

Since its inception, Black Tie has been a community event that has attracted local celebrities, athletes, auto industry and business leaders, politicians and concerned citizens, all giving to help fund the FFDAS’s ongoing efforts to care for and find permanent homes for unwanted animals.

More than $1 million has been raised since the start of Black Tie in 2001. This year’s target is to top $130,000.

Black Tie has raised funds benefiting more than 28,000 rescued animals.

Auction items include tickets to sporting events, tours, dinner excursions, weekend getaways and luxury merchandise. Steven Bernard Jewelers has created a one-of-a-kind piece, expressly designed for the FFDAS’s 20th anniversary. Auction items can be viewed online at www.dearbornanimals.org/events/black-tie-tails-2/auction/#10788.

Also, a pair of Edwardian-style 18 karat white gold earrings donated by Dearborn Jewelers of Plymouth will be raffled off. The earrings contain 72 round brilliant cut diamonds with a total 1.13 carat weight. The retail value is $4,725.

The Dearborn Animal Shelter is at 2661 Greenfield Road, and is operated by the FFDAS, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
