Spend Labor Day as a swashbuckling Pirate at Renaissance Festival High Seas Adventure

Renaissance FestivalHOLLY — The public is invited to wear its best pirate costumes and storm the castle for a five-course seafood feast at the Michigan Renaissance Festival during its High Seas Adventure weekend Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.
Tickets to the Feast of Fantasy are $65, which includes admission to the Renaissance Festival (which ranges from $11.95 to $20.95 at the gate, or $9.50 to $17.50 in advance — free for children ages 4 and under). For reservations, call 248-634-5552.
The feast — which begins at 12:30 p.m. daily at the Castle — features a shrimp roll appetizer; seafood chowder; three slaw salad; steamer clams, smoked sausage and whole lobster; and key lime cheesecake.
Additional events during the weekend include beard and tattoo competitions.
Beard contest prizes will go to the thickest, longest, most unique and best overall beards. The competition will be judged by the Great American Fierce Beard Organization. Tattoos categories will range from best black and white to worst tattoo.
Other activities will include a Perfect Pirate contest, Press-A-Wench, beer tasting (final weekend), Knights on Bikes, Barbarian Ball Eating contest, and free vow renewals, at 11:30 a.m.
The festival also features 50 free activities for children, from free wand and mask making to passing through the Knight’s Challenge.
The Michigan Renaissance Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays (and Labor Day Sept. 2) through Sept. 29 at 12600 Dixie Highway.
