Victim in Telegraph hit-and-run dies

Police looking for driver of gray 1999 to 2001 Windstar

HEIGHTS — Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred on North Telegraph Road near Hass Street on July 26. The man who was struck died July 29.

Chad Allen Field, 34, of Alden, had just left Mike’s Party Store at 6235 N. Telegraph and was walking across the northbound lanes of Telegraph when he was struck by a light gray or silver 1999 to 2001 Ford Windstar. The driver did not stop.

Police found the side mirror from the driver’s side of the suspect’s vehicle at the scene and were able to identify the make, model and approximate year of the from it. They are advising people to be on the lookout for the minivan, which should have substantial front body damage.

Field received assistance at the scene but was unresponsive. He was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital where he was diagnosed as brain dead and listed in critical condition. He was taken off life support July 29.
